From the first time that she stepped onto a yoga mat, Casey knew that she wanted to become a Yoga Instructor. Yoga opens us to deeper connections between our bodies, mind and spirit and Casey wants to share this experience with others who are seeking to bring wholeness and harmony to their lives.

 Casey has been teaching a Vinyasa Flow style of Hatha Yoga Classes for the past 5 years. She has specialized training in teaching Yoga to children with Special Needs through Every Kids’ Yoga and also Yoga For The Special Child. Casey has developed and implemented a curriculum for teaching Yoga in the Pre-School Classroom and has also taught Family Yoga Classes in numerous settings. Her classes are infused with creativity, acceptance and playfulness. Casey is also certified to teach Pre-Natal/Post-Partum Yoga and she welcomes expectant mothers to all of her classes. Casey is delighted to share her passion for Yoga and wellbeing with people of all ages and abilities.

Jackie Ashman - Yoga Instructor

Jackie began a yoga practice several years ago for its physical benefits. In addition to strength, flexibility, and pain relief, came a transformation she wasn't expecting..She soon realized that the real power of yoga goes far beyond the physical benefits....and this is what she hopes to share with her students. 

Jackie's moderately paced Vinyasa classes will be focused on building strength, flexibility, and connection through flowing movements called asana's and breath. 
Plenty of modifications for beginners and advanced students will be offered throughout each class. 
Jackie is a Registered Dental Hygienist, and a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT200)

Maria Gelnett - Nia Instructor
Maria fell in love with Nia the first time she tried a class in DeWitt, NY. In the fall 2015, she traveled to Boulder, Colorado for a week long training accomplishment. She brought it to the area in late 2015 with a break to live in the headquarters city of Portland, Oregon. She was able to attend many classes and dance with the creator of Nia, Debbie Rosas. Nia has been active around the world for over 30 years and Maria is excited to begin teaching it in the area again at Chenango Fitness.

I have certificates in Balanced Body Mat 1 + 2 along with Reformer 1. I have been teaching group fitness classes since leg warmers were in style! I specialize in Pilates ,since I believe it is a form of exercise that everyone can do at any age and with no prior fitness experience ! I am certified through AFAA as a Group Exercise instructor and I am also a Certified Personal Trainer. One of my most motivating and inspiring experiences was to work with Pilates Elder, Mary Bowen.

When I am not teaching Pilates, I am an assistant teacher for a Head Start Program. My sport is Marathon Canoe Racing. I have two grown children and a grand daughter who already knows that I love exercise and paddling my canoe!

I am currently a marathon runner and a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) certified personal trainer. My interest in health and fitness began eight years ago when after years of being obese I decided to make the change to a healthy lifestyle. I lost 60 pounds in five months and have kept the weight off since then. I am a current student in the Physical Therapist Assistant program at SUNY Broome and am excited to join the team at Chenago fitness providing services designed to assist individuals in lifestyle changes that will positively affect their health and wellbeing. The NASM Optimal Performance Training (OPT) model simultaneously improves flexibility, core stabilization, balance, strength, power, and cardiorespiratory endurance. By incorporating multiple types of training into every program, the OPT method improves all biomotor abilities and builds high levels of functional strength, neuromuscular efficiency, and dynamic flexibility.
